Property Description

Cuckoo Springs is a haven of peace and tranquillity set in 20 acres of fields and bluebell woods, yet just 4 miles from award-winning beaches and the historic market town of Newcastle Emlyn with its 13th-century castle, shops, pubs and restaurants. The area has much to offer; seals, dolphins, red kites may be seen on the coastal path; ancient castles and monuments can be explored; or guests can try carriage driving. Cenarth with its waterfalls is 3 miles where fishing, indoor swimming-pool, coracle rides and paintballing are all available. Golf links and steam railways are a little further afield. The three cottages (Refs ONA, OWS and OWT) are located on the owner’s equestrian small holding and guests are able to enjoy woodland walks. Shop 1 mile, pub 3 miles.

Part of an 18th-century converted stone barn, this charming cottage is full of history with its balcony, exposed stonework and beams signed and dated 1782. The living space is light, airy and upstairs to take advantage of the lovely views over the paddock and woodland. Double bedroom with four-poster bed and en-suite shower room with deluge shower and toilet. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Beamed living/dining room with exposed stone walls, wood-burning stove, balcony and beamed kitchen.

  1. Lovely, well equipped cottage in a peaceful setting. Shops not too far away though. Owners very helpful and friendly. Not far from coast. Lovely sandy beaches. Would definitely stay there again. May 2012.
  2. A warm welcome. Very relaxed. Will return and recommend to friends. May 2012.
  3. A very nice cottage with living / kitchen areas upstairs, bath rooms / bedrooms downstairs. The Owners were very friendly. Freshly baked bread / Butter / and eggs on arrival. A tip, If you use the wood burner stove take some fire lighters. Logs available on site free. Own parking area and entrance to grounds. Small children should be supervised when with the animals. Would we come here again... YES! Jan 2012.
  4. Without a doubt, the best cottage we have stayed in yet, and we’ve stayed in quite a few. Mike and Julie were welcoming hosts. Very peaceful, free range farm eggs were perfect with our breakfast. We had decided within our first hour that we would come back, and we have already booked it for next summer. Oct 2011.
  5. We found the property clean, well equipped and tastefully furnished providing a restful location from which to enjoy the local sights and walks. Sept 2011.
  6. Our holiday was unfortunately interrupted by a family bereavement, but up to that time we were very impressed by the accommodation, friendly welcome and lovely coastline nearby. Oct 2011.
  7. Such a warm welcome from Julie & Mike! Lovely comfortable cottage and our boys loved all the animals in particular the horses and Megan the dog! Close to excellent beaches and a very relaxing stay with very helpful hosts. Would love to come and visit again! Aug 2011.
  8. The perfect location if you want to "get away from it all". A well appointed and comfortable cottage and very friendly, welcoming owners. Plenty of dramatic coastal walks, big sandy beaches and plenty of historical sites to visit. Generally good food available in pubs and restaurants if you want to venture out. July 2011.
  9. This is the first time my partner and I had stayed at one of your cottages and we were both extremely impressed by this lovely property. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the cottage is perfect and the area is brilliant for exploring the most wonderful coast-line. We will definitely return! June 2011.
  10. Very welcoming, lovely setting, highly recomended. April 2011.
  11. Mike & Julie provide excellent hospitality with a warm welcome and delicious home baked scones. This was our fourth visit - third to Bluebell cottage and probably the best week we have ever experienced weatherwise - even managed 2 x BBQs. Not bad for April ! The local beaches - Tresaith and Penbryn are idylic and the information folder in the cottage is worth going through as there is loads to do in the area. We would really recommend this location to anyone. Lots to do with young children Local restaurants very good - The Ship in Tresaith (complete with childrens menu) and Gard Y Nos near Aberporth are particularly good. We look forward to future visits! April 2011.
  12. Fantastic, well equipped cottage in idyllic location - very peaceful and only a few miles from the coast. Mike & Julie (owners who live on same small holding) were very friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout the week without being intrusive in any way. Loads to do for families in the surrounding areas - stunning beaches, walking, cycling, castles, steam trains, wildlife spotting... the list goes on. You won’t bother going back to Cornwall or Devon with the masses once you have been here - so much more quiet & less traffic everywhere. Thoroughly recommended, we are more than likely to return next year. May 2011.
  13. We had a great holiday, the cottage was lovely and the location was perfect for exploring the area. We were given a lovely warm welcome by the owners who took a great deal of time to make our visit special. We reccomend highly. May 2011.
  14. The cottage and surrounding area was beautiful. The property owners were nearby without being intrusive. They were always available if we needed anything and even changed a tyre on my sisters car when she arrived with a flat tyre!!! We had a very warm welcome but a very peaceful holiday!!! I would definitely recommend this cottage. April 2011.
  15. Beautiful cottage, full equiped with friendly hosts. Added benefit of allowing a dog - not all property owners are as welcoming with dogs. May 2011.
  16. Beautifully renovated barn, lovely surroundings. Jan 2010.
  17. Well decorated with a homely feel. Great to return to after a day on the beach or being wind-swept on the cliffs. If you want a quiet, peaceful location here’s the place to go. Oct 2010.
  18. The cottage is very well equipped and extremely comfortable and attractive. The owners are very welcoming and can’t do enough to be of help to guests. The property is conveniently located for a variety of activities and places to visit. Sept 2010.
  19. Very clean, comfortable, modern and decorated to a high standard. Contained everything that you would need for a comfortable holiday. Owners very kind and friendly; home made scones and tea to greet on arrival! Aug 2010.
