With some of the best views of the Lake District from the windows, this cosy, single-storey, semi-detached holiday cottage, adjoining the owner’s home, has been skilfully renovated to a very good standard with some delightful touches and a superb bathroom. With its own pretty enclosed garden area, you can breakfast under the trees and enjoy the view across the fields of the surrounding hills. The owner is an artist and offers drawing and painting classes, one lesson per day at £15. There is splendid walking literally from the door. The cottage makes an excellent base to explore the whole area, as you are just 8 miles from the attractions of Keswick with its surrounding mountains and lakes. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 1.25 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with patio door and wooden floor/dining room/kitchen. 1 double (5ft) bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

  5. It was perfectly cosy for a couple. The lounge was comfortable. It was well furnished with a good supply of dvd’s for the quiet evenings in. It was always lovely and warm in the evenings. There were lovely views from the windows and a pleasant garden to use. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They were next door and there if needed, but otherwise kept a good distance.   13. Just back from the little bit of heaven that is Blencathra Stable. No further than 25 minutes from all the lakes set in stunning scenery and with a healing garden oasis to boot! We will definitely be revisiting. May 2009.
  14. Underhowe is in a superb location for exploring the northern lake district. It’s isolated position was exactly what we wanted and it way a joy to sit in the lovely cottage garden listening to the birds and sheep in the field. The owners were so kind and friendly. We loved every moment we spent in the cottage and in the area. June 2008.
