Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Lovely cottage very spacious as well as being warm and cosy. Could not have wished for more. Sept 2012.
  2. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and is a good base from which to carry out walks. It isn’t in a particularly scenic position but it does provide good quality accommodation. June 2012.
  3. Beautiful little cottage in a lovely village. The cottage is clean, well appointed and beautifully decorated in traditional style. There are two local pubs in walking distance, would highly recommend The Black Bull Inn for excellent food. Great country walks on your doorstep and the Hamsterley Forest which is a 15 minute drive from the village is perfect for bike rides, with bike hire facilities on site. The nearest big supermarket is at least 30 minutes away so I’d recommend stocking up on route or before you arrive, but there is a small Co-Op in the village. June 2012.
  4. Excellent base for walking in the North Pennines. Linear walks are possible by making use of the Weardale railway, but avoid heritage trains unless you want to pay extra. July 2011.
  5. Large kitchen which is well equipped and friendly welcome. Oct 2010.
  6. Plenty of space. Aug 2010.
  7. The cottage was roomy and comfortable. Parking spaces were adequate right outside the door. Just a short drive to the attractions. Plenty to see. June 2010.
  8. Large rooms, especially kitchen/dining room, clean and tidy. May 2010.
  9. Warm and cosy. April 2010.
  10. Fantastically stocked with kitchen equipment and a superb property for money charged. Owner was superb both pre and during our holiday. Feb 2010.
  11. The cottage was good for a family - we especially liked the large kitchen that we could eat in. Dec 2009.
  12. Large rooms, very clean, heating was excellent, met on arrival by owner, shown where things are, owner supplied tea, milk and biscuits which was welcome after along journey. Nov 2009.
  13. Accommodation is roomy, well stocked, warm and comfortable. If we could offer a suggested improvement it would be to add an en-suite in the twin bedroom as one bathroom for five people was a challenge! Oct 2009.
  14. Property is ideally situated especially for those wishing to visit Weardale. June 2009.
  15. An absolutely fantastic cottage and a very helpful and friendly owner. Would recommend this cottage to anyone. Would definitely look to book to stay here again. May 2009.
  16. This was a lovely cottage in a really nice area helped along by really good weather which made it a perfect week. We had a really lovely time and would love to visit the area again. March 2009.
  17. Cottage was nicely situated, with lovely scenic views around the area. Accommodation very spacious for our needs, large kitchen with dining table. Aug 2009.
  18. Lovely cottage in ideal surroundings. Welcome of tea and milk in fridge a lovely touch. All facilities very clean. Aug 2009.
  19. Unfortunately my wife and mother-in-law could not come because of illness to the latter. Some would say that was lucky for myself and my severely brain-damaged son who I took with me. The walks, the views, the people and of course the food were superb. The ’locals’ were so friendly, and even when the weather was inclement there was so much to do. Some of the views, up ’on top’, were heavenly. We shall go again, hopefully to the same property, me and ’our’ Andrew. He was so chilled! Thanks. Sept 2008.
  20. Very spacious. Good central location for touring. Sept 2006.
