Property Description

With far-reaching views to the Dee Estuary and the Galloway Hills beyond, this spacious, detached cottage offers extensive secluded gardens. Complete with a small orchard and pond, the mature landscaped gardens are a haven for wildlife, with pheasants, woodpeckers and a variety of small birds amongst the regular visitors. Featuring a beautiful garden room, a well-equipped kitchen and spectacular views from both the comfortable living room and more formal dining room, Belmont provides a peaceful holiday retreat within walking distance of the town centre. Kirkcudbright - known as the ‘Artists’ Town’ - hosts a wealth of coffee shops and art galleries and is a short walk from the impressive ruins of Maclellans Castle. There are many festivals throughout the year including Scottish nights, classic car rallies, historic walks, a medieval fayre, a jazz festival and a spectacular tattoo. Kirkcudbright sits on the edge of the Galloway Hills and on the estuary of the River Dee and offers many outdoor pursuits including fishing, horse riding in Galloway Forest Park, cycling and golf. Threave Garden and Estate is owned by the National Trust and proves to be a popular visitors’ attraction. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Ideal location for those who like the countryside. Large garden with numerous birds and other wildlife visitors but only a short walk to the town by road or alongside the river if you choose. Excellent base to visit nearby places of interest. May 2012.
  2. Excellent accommodation, lovely location, impressive garden. Belmont was warm, beautifully appointed, very clean with nice features like a conservatory which we very much enjoyed. Very extensively equipped kitchen and bedrooms where you could choose your room, not allocated pre-made beds. Excellent. March 2012.
  3. Great location with so many attractions minutes away. Threave Castle, Drumlanrig castle, Wanlockhead mine, smokehouse, viaduct, mill at gatehouse of fleet, Maclellans Castle, Cardoness Castle, Caerlaverock Castle and Solway coast with Kipford (shell beach), and even a Tibetan monastry at Eskdalemuir. Could walk along the estuary. March 2012.
  4. The cottage has everything you could need and more! Very comfortable, clean and spacious. Sept 2011.
  5. A spacious, comfortable property in a beautiful, relaxing part of Scotland. The property is set well back from the main road so is very quiet whilst still well located for easy access to surrounding areas. There is ample parking in the grounds. The garden is immense and private and attracts a lot of wildlife which is a pleasure to behold. Sept 2011.
