Property Description

This holiday property has the most magnificent, far-reaching views across the rolling countryside as far as the sea on the horizon. Being just a 5-minute drive from the A38, Beacon Cottage is a lovely base for those wanting to explore the wider region. Ivybridge, the nearest town, has an indoor swimming pool, leisure centre, good shopping area and supermarkets. Ivybridge railway station is just one mile from the property with easy connections to Plymouth. The local area is also well served by ample bus connections, visitors can park at the railway station (free all day), with a bus every half hour into Plymouth. There is riding available 2 miles away and golf 3 miles, with easy access to St Mellion Golf Club. The city of Plymouth, with its historic Barbican area, restaurants, bars, Hoe and waterfront, is a popular place to visit, and is just 20 minutes away in the car. The rural market town of Totnes, with its eclectic array of shops, is about 30 minutes’ drive. Shops 1 mile.

  1. It may be apparent that we LOVE Beacon Cottage!! May 2012.
  2. Lovely, warm and cosy, clean & well equipped with fabulous views from every window. Perfectly situated for peace & quiet yet shops at Ivybridge a few minutes away. Just a few minutes walk up the lane & you are on Dartmoor, what more could you ask for, a lovely treat on our 1st day. As was the cream tea & flowers. Within driving distance of some beautiful scenic beaches & all that Dartmoor has to offer. Also close to Dartmoor Zoo & National Marine Aquarium. One of the best cottages we’ve stayed in, hope to visit again. March 2012.
  3. Wonderful views from cottage, very comfortable, plenty of room, we went in November but it would be lovely in spring and summer to take advantage of the outside facillities. Fantastic cream tea waiting for us. Nov 2011.
  4. Fantastic location if you love walking, either on Dartmoor or by the coast. The house is spacious and comfortable with fantastic views. A sumptuous cream tea awaits you when you arrive. We have been there five times already and have just booked our sixth week for next year. what more can we say? Sept 2011.
  5. Fantastic location, lovely & peaceful. Ideally located to get most places within a short drive. Would book this property again. Cream tea a lovely touch. Feb 2011.
  6. The property was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was well equipped with everything we needed for a successful holiday. The caretaker was most helpful. Sept 2010.
  7. Wonderful location and very spacious. Oct 2010.

  9. The house was very comfortable and clean. A very relaxing holiday. June 2010.
  10. Great position with good views. Well laid outand everything to hand. Very clean. Nice garage for the car. June 2010.
  11. Location was good. Accommodation was spacious and clean. It was well equipped. The area designated as a games room was useful for the children on the rainy day. May 2010.
  12. The property was well maintained and gave a relaxing atmosphere. May 2010.
  13. This is a lovely cottage with a wonderful view south towards the sea. It is situated in a small group of houses right on the edge of Dartmoor. The owner and caretaker were very welcoming and helpful on arrival. It is within a mile of the shops in Ivybridge and Somerfields was very useful for essentials. Walking on Dartmoor is very accessible and, if you are not up to long walks (like us), there are plenty of places to visit. We can recommend Saltram House and Bicton Park. The accommodation would benefit from more information on the area and on nearby facilities such as places to eat. There were comments from previous visitors but these were not very informative. We enjoyed the holiday very much in peace and quiet and sunshine! April 2010.
  14. House very nice in excellent location with access straight onto Dartmoor. Good rail links into Plymouth. Dec 2009.
  15. Fantastic location for walking on Dartmoor & coast. Lovely views from property. Great cream tea welcome from housekeeper/owner. Warm spacious property. We had a (minor) problem with dishwasher but housekeeper & owner put it right immediately. Three visits to Beacon Cottage so far - fourth already booked! Sept 2009.
  16. Good location with excellent views. Aug 2009.
  17. Great for family - near beaches. Great for walking and watching wildlife. Many wonderful National Trust properties nearby. But don’t forget your wellies and raincoat. But do enjoy the sunsets and the mist floating in from the sea and down from the moor. Beautifully positioned between the coast (for beaches, sandcastles, rockpools etc.) and one field away from Dartmoor. 5 minutes from nice little town, Ivybridge. House was spacious, well equipped and furnished and extremely comfortable. Nice to have small conservatory with marvelous view. Lovely garden. Wonderful wildlife, birds, sheep, ponies, rabbits, butterflies. Nice farm setting - open fields and horses. Very friendly people. Enjoyed it immensely. July 2009.
  18. The lovely caretaker had left us a cream tea for when we arrived and rang to make sure we had arrived safely in the evening. March 2008.
  19. The cottage and surroundings were beautiful with unspoilt views all around, the perfect place to relax. March 2007.
