Property Description

Set in a quiet hamlet this sympathetic end of barn conversion, adjoining owner’s home, is an ideal holiday location for walking direct from the door. Alternatively both Bakewell and the spa town of Buxton are within 5 miles with numerous attractions. Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance. Cycle hire on Monsal Trail, 1 mile. Shop ½ mile, pub 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living room with beams. Dining room/kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Underfloor Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Dishwasher. Washing machine. Use of tumble dryer. Wi-fi. Enclosed garden and furniture. Parking (2 cars). No smoking.

  4. Barn End Cottage was in an excellent location with stunning views across farmland and hills (when the fog and mist cleared). The owners were friendly and gave us a warm welcome. It was pleasing to see a welcome tray on arrival for a much needed cup of tea, sadly lacking in many rentals! Buxton is well worth a visit as is Bakewell where a market is held on a Monday. There is a lovely tea room on the Cat and Fiddle pass on route to Macclesfield. We didn’t find the Pub ’Cat and Fiddle’ particularly friendly and it is also inundated with bikers at the weekend. Snake Pass is also a lovely route to drive through.Both passes providing challenging routes especially in fog! Buxton has a theatre which is well worth checking out, only 4 miles from the cottage and the pavilion gardens are pleasant to walk around and family orientated on a Sunday. Morrisons is on the way into Buxton and had cheapest fuel while we were there. Ownwers have provided alot of literature on the area. There is a steep stone stairway in the property and a step down into the sitting room right inside the door which took us by surprise until we got use to it. We look forward to returning in the Spring of 2012. Nov 2011.
  5. Barn End cottage is the perfect location for anyone wanting a holiday in the Peak District. It is wonderfully located, equipped and cosy. The owners are on hand to help and provide some excellent information on the surrounding areas. We enjoyed wonderful weather, even though we were there in March, and the beautiful scenery whilst walking, or even just when sitting in the lounge. March 2012.
