Property Description

Peaceful setting with fishing available

These four holiday properties lie just 5 miles from the thriving market town of Kendal, which is steeped in history and offers shops, restaurants, indoor leisure centre and theatre. Bannisdale (ref 14969) and Borrowdale (ref 28528) are detached, Scandinavian-design holiday chalets and Farmhouse (ref 27300) is a detached holiday property with a lovely private garden. Riverside (ref NP2103) is a stone-built former bobbin mill, which was converted into three holiday apartments. They are discreetly situated in a tranquil setting amidst 24 acres of privately owned hill land sloping down to the river with its tumbling waters enjoying an abundance of wildlife with buzzards and herons. Beautiful walks abound on nearby Bannisdale, Potter Fell and Haweswater. Although the valley is very secluded, Windermere, with its lake, is 9 miles to the west and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is 13 miles to the east, making these cottages an ideal touring base. The valley is very peaceful and offers spectacular scenery, and no holiday would be complete without the gentle walk to the valley top at Sadgill. The properties sit alongside the River Sprint, which provides ½ mile of private river for salmon and trout fishing available 15th March to 31st October, and there is also trout fishing on the small Cocks Close Lake at £10 per day (Environment Agency licence for all types of fishing required). There is an information sheet in the cottage for further guidance on the rules of fishing in the Lake District. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. It would help to know location more precisely, especially if you arrive in the pouring rain -- left turn past the stone cottages, not straight on along the lane! Was a bit annoying to have to feed the electricity meter, having paid quite a lot for the cottage already... June 2012.
  2. amazing cottage. to those who want to be disconnected, relax and spend lovely days away, go to this cottage! April 2012.
  3. A lovely little chalet, perfect for 4 people. Very comfortable beds. Easy to miss the gateway in the dark, make a good note of the directions. Very peaceful with good facilities. April 2012.

  8. Beautiful, unspoilt, quiet location and lovely cottage. ’Games room’ is a bit misleading as its in a barn but the area is so good, it wasn’t needed. Many thanks. Feb 2009.
  9. We chose an excellent week weather wise in March but would have been comfortable staying in and watching spring approach. The accommodation was warm, pleasant and well equipped. March 2009.
  10. Accommodation all you require for a walking holiday excellent location regards views and wildlife with many walks from the door. No pub locally though so its eat in or a drive. Feb 2008.
  11. A beautiful setting and a very nice property! Nov 2006.
  12. If you are looking for seclusion and peace and quiet, then this is the ideal place to go. Clean and comfortable accommodation set in absolute stunning scenery - we particularly like the bridge over the river into the site - what a welcome! Sept 2006.
