Property Description

Ideal touring base

Situated in the historic town of Ironbridge, in the heart of rural Shropshire, these two holiday properties, (refs 27518 and 27519) nestled around an attractive courtyard, enjoy all that Ironbridge has to offer on the doorstep. Many museums, spread along the banks of the River Severn, trace Ironbridge’s history. The ’Iron Bridge’ itself is a reminder to its importance. Visitors can browse around the array of craft and souvenir shops as well as great bars and restaurants. Visit Bridgnorth, an historic town split in two but connected via a unique Victorian cliff railway. Madeley, 1 mile, boasts listed buildings galore, the grandest being Madeley Court. Newport offers a plethora of independent shops and eateries, whilst Telford has an indoor shopping area with over 150 shops and cafés. Wellington, hosting one of the oldest markets, is also worth a visit, and Wrekin Hill is a comfortable walk away. Kayaking, canoeing, cycling, walking, gliding, golf, fishing and horse racing are all available for the active, whilst places to visit include castles, abbeys, working farms and museums, discovery centres, gardens, parks and historic houses. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

4 external steps to ground floor entrance. Lower ground floor: 1 double (5ft) bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet. Ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed/dining room/kitchen.

Electric cooker. Small balcony and furniture.

Both properties: Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. DAB radio. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Wi-fi. Shared courtyard with furniture. Parking (2 cars). No smoking. Friday to Friday.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A real gem of a holiday cottage. Compact but very comfortable and well fitted. Cosy for 2 maybe a bit squeezed for 4 adults. Beautiful location - very central for the village and all local museums. Get a "passport" for the museums and save a packet on entry fees and local weekend museum bus service. The pies are good too! June 2012.
  2. From the friendly welcome from the staff at Eley’s Pork Pie shop (highly recommended by the way), to the long evenings sitting on the west-facing balcony watching the sunset over Ironbridge Gorge, every aspect of this cottage is comfortable and cosy. The cottage was perfectly proportioned for our party of three and would be spacious for two. The welcome pack of wine, chocolates, plenty of coffee, tea bags, biscuits and of course an Eley’s pork pie, was probably the best that we’ve ever received in a self-catering cottage. Eley’s own car park, only a few minutes walk from the cottage, was a real bonus in a small town with limited parking. There’s plenty to do in the area - even though the weather was foul, the Ironbridge museums are mainly indoors. They’re free to Art Pass holders or you can buy an annual Passport that allows access to all ten. WIthin easy walking distance are the Museum of the Gorge, Merrythought VIllage (antique centre and teddy bear shop), boat rides on the Severn, the Iron Bridge itself, and our favourite eating place, the Malthouse pub. We’d highly recommend this little cottage, centrally located yet quietly situated. June 2012.
