Property Description

Glorious uninterrupted sea views can be admired from this breathtaking location, one of Hartland’s most stunning spots. Atlantic House is a delightful, spacious, detached property, set amidst the owner’s 17th-century farm. Lovingly converted from a former barn, it retains plenty of character with beams, stone walls and feature floors and is presented to a very high standard. The superb living/dining room takes full advantage of the views, and the sunny patio is the ideal spot to relax in and watch the waves. The property also has a large courtyard garden, ideal for al fresco dining, and the raised decked area and hot tub add the finishing touches for a holiday to remember. The magnificent rugged English Heritage coastline of Hartland and beyond runs across the farm in an AONB, offering a perfect haven for walking and bird watching. Narrow lanes from the doorstep wind down to secluded sand and shingle beaches. Berry Beach is just a 5-minute walk. Children will love the pets corner on the farm and the large playing field. The famous sandy surfing beaches of Westward Ho! and Bude are an easy drive and for family fun, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are close by. There are numerous NT properties in the area, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Clovelly, with its quaint cobbled streets and picturesque harbour is a must. The village of Hartland is just 3 miles and has a good selection of village shops and pubs, all serving local produce. The historic port of Bideford, with its lively market, as well as the Lundy Island ferry and array of shops and other amenities, is just 15 miles. Golf, fishing, sailing, surfing and horse riding available locally. Shops 3 miles, pub 2 miles.

  1. This is our fourth visit to this property and all our family like going to Atlantic House as the walks along the coast to Hartland Quay are stunning. One of the attractions of the cottage is it’s remoteness so you need to arrange for most of your groceries to be delivered by one of the supermarket chains. Asda is the closest, about 14 miles away and takes about 20 minutes to get there. The two village shops in Hartland can provide papers and essentials to top up the supermarket delivery. The hot tub is always popular with the family especially after a walk along the coast. We’ll be back again if it’s available during school holidays! April 2012.
  2. Absolutely amazing barn accommodation comfortably sleeping 11 people. Friendly locals and the most wonderful owner who was welcoming and helpful. The hot tub was clean , well maintained and heavenly! March 2012.
  3. We absolutely adored our all-too-short stay in Atlantic Cottage. I still cannot get over how perfect for us the cottage, location and cottage owners were. The house is large, and all of the rooms are a great size and well decorated to suit all tastes. The best part of the house (for me) was the kitchen and adjoining lounge area. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, with every piece of cutlery and crockery you might need ; and because it runs through to the lounge, you don’t feel separated if you are the one cooking. We actually took a walk down to the coast with it’s incredible shoreline. The house as a whole was just gorgeous - and if anything the pictures dont do it justice really. My friends and I had an absolutely wonderful weekend in Atlantic House and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Thanks so much to Terrance + the family, we hope to see you soon! Dec 2011.
  4. Excellent property for big groups/families, spactacularily located, very child friendly. June 2011.
  5. Atlantic House is an excellent property and although a bit remote the location is first class. The property is a barn conversion that has every convenience and comfort. The barn was warm and spotlessly clean. Although the weather was not very kind to us we all enjoyed the luxury especially of the hot tub. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. Overall we thought that it was excellent value for money and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. May 2011.
  6. A Truly wonderful location with splendid views an beautiful sunsets. The hot tub more and the children’s garden with trampoline were enjoyed by everyone - 8 adults and 4 children aged 14, 9, 3 and 1. We would highly recommend this converted barn and will return. May 2011.
  7. An absolutely stunning property. Really well equipped and comfortable furnishing. Beautiful views and great walks and then back for a relax in the hot tub. Slightly off the beaten track so take what you can with you because once you are there you will just want to relax and enjoy. Really friendly owners/farm. March 2011.
  8. Clean, easily accessible. Family friendly. Close distance to beach. Things to do on the farm for the children. Excellent size and layout. Gifts on arrival from the owner. Nov 2010.
  9. We booked this property for a family break and took granny and great grandson and would advise everyone to do the same! Everything about the property- the location and the owners were fantastic. We will be going back! Nov 2010.
  10. Very close to the coast path. Really enjoyed the hot tub, and the decoration in all bar one of the bedrooms. Also great to be able to see the sea and to have so many en-suite facilities. Also having all the living accommodation open plan works really well on holiday. Oct 2010.
  11. Large, well presented property with a good feeling to it. Oct 2010.
  12. A beautifully situated house, well renovated and full of character yet still a real home from home. June 2010.
  13. Very modern, all facilities were clean. Good range of cooking equipment, lovely location. March 2010.
