Property Description

Picturesque seaside village.

Detached cottage for 2/4.

These quaint stone holiday homes are situated within a converted monastery which is adjacent to the ancient Round Tower of St Declan in the charming seaside village of Ardmore. St. Declan founded Ireland’s earliest Christian settlement in Ardmore, and the village has many fascinating historic relics including an ancient well, ruined church and graveyard. A short walk down the hill brings you to the village centre with its golden beach, fishing harbour, famous pottery studio plus the shops and pubs. There is a wonderful cliff walk complete with breath taking views and a ship wreck. The surrounding countryside is glorious with pretty coves and beaches in abundance, and the forests and lakes of the Comeragh and Knockmealdown Mountains are within 25 miles. There are a number of sign posted scenic routes to follow in your car such as the Nire Valley Drive and the Vee Drive. There is the magnificent estuary of the River Blackwater at Youghal and boat trips are available in the summer. Fishing, golf and riding are all available locally. This makes a good base for touring throughout the counties of Cork, Waterford and Tipperary. The lively towns of Youghal and Dungarvan offer a good selection of shops and restaurants. The area has many interesting attractions including Lismore Castle, Waterford Crystal, Blarney Castle and Stone, the Jamieson Whiskey Centre and the Fota Island Wildlife Park. Both Waterford and Cork Airports are within 45 miles. Shop and pub 350 yards.

This charming stone cottage has a cosy living area with an open fire, one ground floor bedroom and stairs leading to up to an unusual open gallery bedroom which is above the living area.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 1 galleried twin bedroom with sloping ceiling and en-suite toilet.

Open fire in living room (initial fuel included). Gas central heating €50per week (if required). Electricity by coin meter (first €10 included). Shared patio with furniture. Parking (1 car).

Bed linen and towels included. Microwave. Shared laundry facilities.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Spacious, very quiet, wonderful views and sunsets, lovely location. Just far enough from the village and shop to be easily accessible but far enough to be quiet. Lovely walks from door. Would also be suitable for a beach holiday for families. July 2011.
  2. Ardmore is a beautiful little coastal village (pop around 350 pers) with a mile long, very clean beach. There is only 1 shop in the village which is very good and a good deli is included but if you have to do a main shop you need to go into Yougal which is around 12 miles away there is a Tesco there. The cottage we used was fantastic the views were of extensive country and beach. Right opposite us was the ruins of St.Declans cathedral and the tower which is around 60m high. There are loads of cliff walks. Michael the owner of the cottage was a smashing bloke in fact the whole village was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this holiday to all. June 2011.
  3. If you want peace & quiet in a beautiful part of the world then look no further! If you want luxury this isn’t for you, but comfort, relaxation and a superb location is what you’ll get. Only 2 tv channels, no dvd, cd or video ensure you enjoy the peace even more. Make sure you visit Goat Island and also Ballycotton! May 2011.
  4. The cottage is very comfortable and quiet, and the setting and views, over the countryside and to the round tower, are lovely. The cottage was actually roomier than it appeared on the photos. The village center, beach, and cliff walk are only a short walk away. The whole landscape around Ardmore is beautiful. The village shop is fine for basic groceries, and large supermarkets are a short drive away in Youghal. My daughter enjoyed having the upstairs "loft" area to herself. We would have stayed longer if we could. July 2010.
  5. Additional little extras (teabags etc) left were a nice touch. Accommodation spotless and property owner kept in contact and visited. Nothing could be too much trouble for him. Oct 2009.
  6. The property was set away from main roads and in a quiet location but still handy for local shops and pubs. Sept 2009.
  7. The accommodation was excellent, a beautiful location which more than fulfilled our expectations. We had a great time and would definitely go again. July 2008.
  8. The cottage was beautiful and had all the amenities needed to have a fantastic stay. Feb 2008.
  9. I would recommend your company to all my friends, excellent. And our dogs say woof woof!! May 2008.
